Job Description
La Porte County Family YMCA is launching a New Senior Director of Operations to elevate branches and open our new YMCA. The Senior Director of Operations is a critical strategic leadership role responsible for the overall operational efficacy, standardization, and future readiness of the La Porte County Family YMCA. This position is designed for a dynamic leader to optimize current association‑wide processes while simultaneously playing a pivotal role in planning for new facilities.
The Director will initially focus on systems integrations and operational consistency across all existing branches and programs, with a clear progression plan to transition into the dedicated Branch Director of the new La Porte YMCA facility upon its completion and opening.
- Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and acceptable driving record that meets YMCA standards.
- 5+ years of experience in multi‑site operational leadership or general management, preferably within the YMCA or non‑profit, fitness, hospitality, or recreation industries, with a proven track record in membership and program growth.
- Proven track record of standardizing processes, improving operational efficiency, and managing facilities.
- Experience with strategic planning implementation, performance measurement, and comprehensive budget management (formation and oversight).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams through change and transition periods.
- Excellent project management skills, strategic thinking capabilities, and strong analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field preferred. - Required trainings:
- Within 30 days of hire:
Child Abuse Prevention (West Bend online). - Within 30 days of hire:
Blood Borne Pathogens (West Bend online). - Within 60 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
- Within 90 days of hire:
Listen First and Y Welcome. - Proficient in all standard business software including Google platforms and Microsoft Office.

- Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s core values and mission into all aspects of the job in the community.
- Lead the coordination, implementation, and tracking of the organization’s strategic plan.
- Drive the creation, documentation, and implementation of clear SOPs and best practices across all critical functions, including membership, recruitment/retention, program registration/delivery, facility management, and customer service for all branches.
- Coordinate the annual budget development process with department heads and the CEO.
- Oversee association‑wide compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, safety standards, and YMCA best practices, minimizing organizational risk.
- Develop, implement, and track association‑wide strategies for membership acquisition and retention, ensuring consistent messaging, high member satisfaction, and attainment of growth targets.
- Oversee the development and standardization of high‑quality, mission‑aligned programs across all branches, utilizing data and community needs assessments to ensure relevance, impact and growth.
- Develop and track KPIs for membership growth, program participation/quality, operational efficiency, and member satisfaction, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute seamless operational transition plans from current facilities and systems to future models.
- Provide direct operational guidance and support to the branch directors serving as a resource for problem‑solving, operational troubleshooting, and consistency in program delivery.
- May be assigned to provide direct day‑to‑day support in the absence of branch leaders.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a member of the Association Leadership Team.
