Position: Painter - Austin Industrial (La Porte, TX)

Painter NCCER

Must be able to prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush and rollers. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads work order and receives instructions verbally.
• Prepares surface using methods appropriate to remove dirt, oil, grease, removing old paint, smoothing cracks, and filling holes.
• May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer.
• May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform task above ground level.
• Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
• Using manual or spraying systems to prepare tools and surfaces.
• Mixing paints and operating blasting equipment and spray guns.
• Sandblasting, Applying coatings.
• Performing post-paint processes such as grinding, polishing, sealing, caulking, and sanding.
• Operating various types of equipment such as blast pots and spray guns.
• Work at heights with no fear.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Certification/License
:
Valid  Driver’s License and NCCER Certification Required.

Experience – 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
