Nursing Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients
  • Administer medications
  • Perform medical intakes and assess patient fitness for incarceration, as needed
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required
  • Perform 14‑day physicals
  • Manage chronic care
  • Provide patient education on health concerns
  • Respond to medical emergencies and undertake life‑saving measures
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reactions, overdose, formulary/non‑formulary medications, and medication costs
  • Provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel as needed
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: LaPorte County Jail

Shift opening(s): 6 AM to 6 PM, 3 days per week with every other weekend rotation

Pay Range: $35‑$40+/hour based on experience

Bonus: $4,000 ( $1,000 paid at 60 days, $1,000 paid at 6 months, $2,000 paid at 1 year )

Requirements
  • Valid RN licensure
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds
