Overview

Position: Aide, Special Education - SAIL

Location: La Porte Junior High

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid SBEC Educational Aide certificate
• Associate's Degree or 48 or more college hoursor NCLB Para Educator Certification issued by San Jacinto College or other local educational entity

Assist the teacher(s) in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including thecampus SAIL Program, self-help, behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher. Other duties as assigned.

  Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stopping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion:
  Frequent walking
• Lifting:
  Frequent light lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (less than 15 pounds); occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to 50 pounds)
• Environment:
  Work inside and outside, regular exposure to noise and the elements
• Mental Demands:
  Maintain control under stress

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

Pay Grade: Paraprofessional, Pay Grade 3, 187 Days

Minimum: $14.31

Midpoint: $17.24
