Transportation Dispatcher
Location:

PURPOSE:
Communicate effectively with transportation, school district, and community members through use of multi‑line telephone, face‑to‑face, and two‑way radios.
Education/Certification:- High School Diploma or GED, required
- CDL with P&S endorsements required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- TAPT Specialist Certification, preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Skills:
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Applications and applicable transportation software
- Excellent organizational, communication, team, multi‑tasking, and interpersonal skills
- Effective telephone skills
- Bilingual – Spanish, preferred
- Transportation experience, preferred
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicate effectively with transportation staff, parents, students and school district staff members
- Use transportation software to communicate with staff and community members
- Notify drivers, parents and school personnel of any changes in a student’s bus service, such as an address change, change in pick‑up and drop‑off location, change in time of bus pick‑up/drop‑off.
- Answer phones and transfer callers to appropriate staff member.
- Contact emergency personnel when warranted and advise drivers in emergency situations.
- Assist field trip supervisor with assigning buses to drivers and coaches.
- Assist trip drivers with trip tickets and bus keys.
- Prepare various reports as required by the state, district or department.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisors or director of transportation.
Tools/Equipment Used:
Radio communication equipment, computer and peripherals.
Posture:
Sitting for extended periods, repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate a keyboard and other office equipment as necessary.
Motion:
Frequent sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
Lifting:
Moderate lifting and carrying of 50 pounds or greater.
Environment:
Work outside and inside with minimal exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress, occasional prolonged and irregular hours and occasional out‑of‑district travel. Must be available for night and weekend shifts as needed.

Other Information:The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee‑only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
Pay Grade:Manual Trades, Pay Grade 1, 210 Days
Minimum: $11.22
Midpoint: $13.46
