Supplier Quality Engineer

Purpose of Position

• Coordinate supplier quality issues with vendors and corporate offices in Taiwan.
• Lead departments on reducing damage and scrap of purchased parts during assembly and testing.
• Manage the vendor failure analysis process.

• Take the lead on containment of problems reported by vendors or discovered in process.
  • Lead and coordinate sort activities with company personnel, vendor personnel, or third‑party contractors.
  • Report results of sorting daily to QMN, HQ, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive the vendor to root cause and corrective action, normally using the 8D process (other processes acceptable).
  • Work with inventory control to manage inventory, ensuring clear delineation between good, suspect, and bad material and proper labeling, storage, and transaction.
• Lead the Operations, Quality, Process, and Test Engineering teams on damage and scrap reduction for purchased/supplied materials.
  • Track assembly and test‐induced damage weekly.
  • Implement DMAIC‑based damage reduction processes for each main customer (trend analysis, Pareto analysis, action plans).
  • Report progress, roadblocks, and action plans to management regularly.
• Lead reporting process for failure analysis of returned parts.
  • Track using an established database.
  • Follow up for timeliness and completeness.
  • Report results to management and product quality engineers.
  • Drive vendors/suppliers to root cause and corrective action based on failure analysis results.
• Other responsibilities:
  • Assist with ISO 9001 activities including internal auditing, calibration, and document control.
  • Draft process flows, procedures, work instructions, and forms as required.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university (preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science).
• Three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience with ISO 9001 or other third‑party quality systems.

• Effectively present information and answer questions from managers, engineers, customers, and suppliers.
• Solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
• Certified ISO 9001 internal auditor.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Computer literacy in Windows (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Internet Explorer).
• Analytical, detail‑oriented, and well organized.
• Strong interpersonal skills with tact and diplomacy.
• Self‑motivated and able to use initiative.

Regular walking, talking, and listening. Occasional standing, sitting, and handling of hands. Lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and ability to adjust focus.

Fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment. Professional yet casual. Work occurs in office, manufacturing plant, and warehouse locations throughout LaVergne, TN.
