Financial Accountant / Staff Accountant

MCL Construction is seeking a Financial Accountant / Staff Accountant to join our expanding Finance team. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail‑oriented professional who enjoys taking ownership, learning new systems, and contributing to both daily accounting operations and broader financial initiatives. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the company’s continued growth.

• Prepare and process tax filings, including multi‑state requirements
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Complete bank reconciliations and oversee credit card activity
• Coordinate benefits processing in partnership with HR and payroll
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Manage workers’ compensation reporting and compliance
• Support annual audits by preparing documentation and explanations
• Develop, document, and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
• Maintain fixed asset tracking and management
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries
• Generate ad‑hoc financial and management reports
• Assist with budget preparation and ongoing financial monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, accuracy, and transparency

• Experience with multi‑state tax filings
• Joint venture accounting experience
• Federal or government‑related accounting experience preferred
• Experience with CMiC ERP system is a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
• Clear communicator with a proactive mindset
