Position SummaryThe Quality Engineer, part of the Cync Health engineering team, ensures the quality, reliability, and performance of our platforms through well-defined test policies and procedures, thorough manual testing, and robust test automation. This role collaborates closely with product, engineering, and Dev Ops to embed quality throughout the SDLC and support continuous improvement across teams.
Responsibilities- Define & own test governance:
Author, maintain, and continuously improve organization‑wide test policies, standards, procedures, and control plans covering unit, API, UI, integration, performance, security, and regression testing. - Manual test execution:
Create test charters/cases; perform exploratory, functional, and end‑to‑end testing across web, services, data pipelines, and integrations; log high‑quality defects and drive resolution. - Test automation implementation:
Design scalable automation frameworks; develop and maintain automated suites for API/UI/regression; integrate into CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, fast feedback loops. - Quality by design:
Participate in design and backlog refinement to clarify acceptance criteria, testability, and risk; provide input on quality and process improvements. - SDLC collaboration:
Partner with product, engineering, and Dev Ops to embrace Dev Ops practices, accelerate delivery cycles, and ensure consistent, high‑quality releases. - Metrics & observability:
Define quality KPIs (defect leakage, coverage, cycle time, flaky test rate); build dashboards; analyze data to guide root‑cause investigations and continuous improvement. - Compliance & risk management:
Ensure testing aligns with healthcare, security, and privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA), including data handling and auditability of test artifacts. - Training & enablement:
Lead quality training, coach engineers on testability and automation patterns, and evangelize best practices across teams. - Release readiness:
Contribute to go/no‑go decisions with clear test evidence, risk assessments, and mitigation recommendations. - Tooling stewardship:
Evaluate, select, and manage test tools/license usage; standardize conventions for test data management, environment configuration, and mocking/stubbing. - Model Cync Health’s values and Code of Conduct.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field required.
3–7+ years in SQA/QA/QE roles with a track record of manual testing and test automation across complex, distributed systems (web/apps/services/data).
Strong exploratory testing and test design skills (boundary analysis, equivalence partitioning, risk‑based testing); ability to translate requirements into clear test cases and acceptance criteria.
Hands‑on with Agile/Scrum and Scaled practices (SAFe); comfortable contributing to definition of ready/done, sprint quality gates, and release criteria.
Familiarity with cloud‑based environments (AWS), containers, and environment orchestration; experience building quality signals into pipelines (static analysis, coverage, test results).
Ability to validate data flows, ETL/ELT, and service integrations; comfort with SQL and test data provisioning/masking. Additional database technologies that would be beneficial:
