Student Support Coordinator - Washington Connections Academy
Washington Connections Academy (WACA) is a tuition‑free, virtual public school serving K‑12 statewide. The position is remote, full‑time, and open to applicants in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. Certified teachers manage instructional programs and regularly consult with learning coaches and students via telephone, internet, and curriculum tools to ensure successful completion of the instructional program.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Student Support Coordinator works closely with homeroom students, newly enrolled families, and at‑risk students. Key duties include:
- Homeroom Support (25%) – Host homeroom Live Lessons, conduct Welcome Calls, Intent to Return, monthly WSLP progress checks, and advise families on academic skill building and graduation.
- New Student Support (10%) – Lead New Student Support Assemblies during enrollment seasons, help families adjust to the online environment, and assist teachers integrating mid‑semester enrollees.
- At‑Risk Student Support (65%) – Conduct weekly/biweekly WSLP check‑ins, Truancy Calls, contact disengaged families, host weekly Student Success Live Lessons, collaborate with the Student Success Team and PLC, provide community resources, host Academic Integrity workshops, support withdrawal processes, update tracking, and maintain a minimum of 40 successful individual contacts per week.
- Behind‑the‑Scenes Roles – Participate in IEP and 504 teams, review data with instructional staff, collaborate with counselors and advisory teachers, attend training and team‑building events, report critical incidents, complete professional development, serve in representative roles, and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Washington teacher certification in any secondary subject or K‑8 elementary education.
- Preferred residence in Washington.
- Team player with a flexible, fast‑paced work style.
- Strong technology skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Nearpod, data tools).
- Excellent oral and written communication with diverse populations.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practices for students and families.
- Willingness to travel for key school events, potentially overnight.
- Ability to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2‑step authentication.
Salary ranges from $40,000 to $55,000 based on experience and education.
