Maintenance Technician

Job Description:


Objective of the Position


Service and maintain equipment according to design and construction standards for established manufacturing purposes, while adhering to strict Food Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities


Equipment Maintenance

• Perform preventive maintenance, including greasing, oiling, and checking:
  • Chains, belts, conveyors, and manufacturing system functions
  • Bearings, sprockets, pins, gears, shears, and keepers
  • Guards, brackets, rollers, welds
• Use power and hand tools for repairs and maintenance
• Fabricate parts using basic fabrication tools, welders, torches, and materials
• Safely handle and dispense maintenance chemicals and cleaning/sanitizing agents
• Troubleshoot and perform basic operational maintenance on equipment
• Follow work instructions and SOPs
• Operate forklift or pallet jack as needed
• Perform other duties across multiple departments as directed by supervisor or management

Scheduling & Flexibility

• Must be available for day or night shifts
• Flexible hours and scheduling required
• May need to change shifts to cover vacations, illnesses, or other business needs

Food Quality Responsibilities

• Monitor equipment to ensure proper working order
• Perform routine preventive maintenance checks
• Report any quality concerns to FS/QA Manager or designated company official

Food Safety Responsibilities

• Follow company cGMP program
• Set up and perform HIP operations
• Adhere to company policies and sanitation procedures during maintenance activities
• Report any food safety issues to FS/QA Manager or designated company official

Occupational Safety

• Follow company safety protocols and procedures
• Report any identified safety risks to a safety committee member or management

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Position requires:
  • Lifting, bending, crawling, kneeling, and standing for long periods
  • Frequent walking, ladder climbing
  • Working in hot and/or dusty environments
