Health Technician

About the Position:

This position is for the Directorate of Branch Clinics, Family Medicine located in Tacoma, Washington.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

• Apply and remove bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot and cold packs.
• Administer immunizations as ordered and screened by providers.
• Instruct patients and families on various subjects, such as the proper procedure or following receipt of immunization in accordance with established protocols.
• Input information into an electronic medical system and other required databases.
• Monitor the waiting areas for possible changes of patient condition.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre‑employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal Drug Free Workplace Programs.
• Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre‑employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on‑duty accident.
• This position requires Tuberculosis testing.
• Hepatitis B immunizations is required.
