Be a central figure in providing direct support to the Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor by directing a team of construction professionals in the installation, diagnosis, and repair of industrial and residential electrical components and equipment.

In this dynamic role, you install, modify, maintain, and repair interior and exterior wiring and cables, connections for electric machines, switches and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzers, and bell circuits; install, modify, maintain, adjust, and repair electric motors and associated equipment, instruments, controllers, and generators.

With your experience, you will perform journey level work installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage electrical equipment and systems of 600 volts or less.

We are seeking a candidate to inspect electric systems and equipment to identify failures or loss of efficiency, including detecting and correcting faulty or worn parts.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, this position will:

Electrical Installation, Maintenance, and Repair.

  • Independently functions as a fully qualified electrician and leads other electrical professionals in the installation, maintenance, and repair work on low voltage electrical equipment and systems of 600 volts or less.
  • Leads the installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs of interior wiring and cables, connections for electric machines, switches and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzer and bell circuits and hearing and power circuits.
  • Leads the installation, adjustment, maintenance, modification, and repairs of electric motors, equipment, and instruments such as pumps (up to 300 hp), fans, metering devices, power tools, motors, and generators.
  • Leads the inspection of electric systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty or worn parts. Checking wires, poles and transformers and keep lines cleared of tree limbs and brush.
  • Perform electrical testing including voltage, amperage, and meg-ohm for assessing electrical efficiency and motor degradation.
  • Assists in the preparation, scheduling, and leadership of the work layout for the maintenance, alteration and repair of electrical components and their housing.
  • Communicates the job(s) to and with the crew.
  • Determines materials, equipment and manpower needed to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Identifies needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicates these to the Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor.
  • Leads the execution of the work, including quality, production, and safety, by ensuring that crews work to job specifications and follows all agency standards.
  • Continuously inspects completed work making sure it is up to code and specifications and initiates timely problem resolutions.

Working Conditions:

Work setting: Duties are performed at construction sites, at hatchery and wildlife areas, and on occasion in a fabrication shop. Bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting of 50 pounds repetitively when loading and unloading trucks or moving materials around project site. Some tasks will involve sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations.

Schedule: Typically, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday. Work overtime as needed/requested. This will include overnight stays and evening and weekend work.

Travel requirements: Travel to work sites and hatcheries required 60-80% of the time, depending on season.

Customer Interactions: interactions varying between Federal, Local, Inter-Agency, and Intra-Agency customers and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

Two (2) years as a Construction and Maintenance Project Specialist, or three (3) years as a General Repairer, or four (4) years of journey-level experience in two (2) or more of the construction or building trades.

And

Two (2) years of electrical trade experience, while holding a valid EL01 license, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, generators, and industrial motor and control circuits.

And

Two (2) years of experience with VFDs, PLCs, and Soft Starts.

And

Possession of Journey Level Electrical Certificate of Competency (EL01) issued by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

License: Valid driver’s license recognized in Washington State and acceptable driving record.
