Associate Preschool Teacher - Laconia Early Learning Center
We are looking for a dedicated Associate Preschool Teacher to join our Laconia Early Learning Center. This full‑time, hourly position offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
Base Pay Range$14.19/hr - $16.92/hr
SummaryThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire supports 200 staff across 30 programs. As an Associate Preschool Teacher, you will uphold our mission, collaborate with teachers, and ensure the health and safety of children. You will actively engage children, assist in classroom maintenance, and document observations while learning child development and safety practices.
Duties Prepare Youth for Success- Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Responds sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children, and interacts positively with children using positive guidance strategies.
- Provides guidance and role modeling by planning curriculum that meets individual needs through an emergent curriculum.
- Establishes and maintains program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.
- Evaluates Club programs continually, including tracking outcome metrics; verifies that programs respond to member needs and address diversity.
- Uses child observation notes for curriculum planning, keeping accurate, up‑to‑date records.
- Continuously accounts for the members in their assigned group by name and face.
- Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards and GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, and BGCCNH and CCLU policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices.
- Dispenses medications per policy, administers first aid as needed, and communicates to families.
- Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being and upkeep.
- Oversees record‑keeping and weekly reporting, providing data for the Center Director or other staff.
- Facilitates open and effective communication with families, staff, and children.
- Supervises classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provides regular performance feedback.
- Supports volunteers, practicum students, and staff through modeling techniques that connect theory to practice.
- May lead planning meetings with the teaching team.
- Increases visibility of Club programs via daily schedules, announcements, and social media.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate teacher qualification (high school diploma and a minimum of 9 credits) in child development or early childhood education from a regionally accredited institution.
- 18 years of age or older and a minimum of 1,500 hours working in a licensed school‑age program.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, principles, and techniques.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven track record of creative teaching strategies.
- Ability to build developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
- Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Strong communication skills with staff, families, and community members.
- Willingness to maintain the Club dress code appropriate to duties and responsibilities.
- Adaptable to different learning styles.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
- May be required to operate the Club van/short bus periodically; safe driving record required.
- Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel between locations when requested (occasional travel).
- All candidates must submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and a state of New Hampshire criminal records check.
- State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may disqualify employment based on criminal record findings.
- Zero‑tolerance policy for abuse; any mistreatment will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination and cooperation with law enforcement.
