Work Schedule: 8 hours a week year round Wednesdays. Must be able to work a minimum of 2 Wednesdays per month.
SCOPE OF WORKOversees daily functioning of instructional labs. To assist primary instructor with psychomotor instruction based on National Registry guidelines of instructor/student ratio. This position shall report to the Department Chair for Fire Science Technologies. This position works up to 8 hours a week on Wednesdays year round. ACCOUNTABILITIES- Under the direction of the instructor, assists with the instruction of courses and/or labs within the Emergency Medical Services program.
- Works with the instructor to ensure that instructor that course goals and objectives are met, and that student’s learning needs are addressed;
- Oversees students engaged in learning activities and provides feedback to the instructor regarding student progress and accomplishments;
- Assists with set‑up of workstations, equipment, and classrooms;
- Maintains safety and general order in the classroom, lab, and storage areas;
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Associate degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in fire technology or medical‑related field or education equivalency. - Experience:
Four (4) years of field experience in emergency medical services working in either a fire department or hospital or ambulance service. - Licenses/certifications:
Current national certification as a registered Paramedic.
Considerable knowledge of the procedures and practices associated with the emergency medical service. Considerable knowledge of the use of all tools and equipment in the application of techniques used in patient care. Ability to follow standard laboratory and clinical methods and procedures. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain student documentation. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by college management.
