A Day in the Life as a Meals on Wheels Driver- Deliver daily meals and wellness checks to the homes of senior citizens and eligible adults in a friendly and timely manner.
- Pickup meals from the program site and, if requested, assist in meal packing.
- Deliver meals courteously and on schedule; report safety, environmental, or social service needs to supervisor and complete accurate timesheets and odometer sheets.
- Clean and maintain delivery equipment and keep a sanitary vehicle environment.
- Maintain accurate route slips and communicate changes to supervisor, verbally and in writing.
- Distribute and collect donation envelopes for the program weekly, unless directed otherwise.
- Accurately maintain up-to-date meal counts.
- Adhere to all policies and protocols in the Meals on Wheels Handbook and trainings, especially for personal safety, body mechanics, client safety, and food safety.
Your role directly contributes to a positive participant experience, providing resources to help them thrive.
Qualifications- Education: High school diploma or equivalency credential
- Experience: Maintaining professional boundaries with clients; maintaining confidentiality of clients, coworkers, and internal information
- Skills: Ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment; attend team and staff meetings as scheduled; organize efficient route plans and work under time constraints
- Characteristics: Punctual, dependable, courteous, and personable
- Technical: Valid driver’s license with good driving record; reliable transportation; maintain minimal insurance coverage per CAPBM policies
- Physical: Ability to lift coolers up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, and wash coolers
Successful completion of criminal record and driving record checks required.
