Amentum is seeking a Facility Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to support our industrial operations & maintenance team at a major automotive manufacturing facility in the Ladson, SC area. Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; various hours may be required based on business demand.
The primary function is to plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance tasks for a team of facility maintenance technicians. The Planner/Scheduler acts as liaison between Amentum staff, subcontractors and clients for the planning and scheduling of maintenance work orders, and works with technical leads and technicians to prioritize and plan work according to facility requirements.
Experience with a CMMS is required, as is the ability to create spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, and to present planning/scheduling metrics to management staff. Successful candidates demonstrate the ability to work with limited supervision in a fast‑paced industrial or large commercial environment.
ResponsibilitiesPlanning preventive/corrective maintenance activities daily for maintenance technicians; obtaining proposals from qualified suppliers; preparing requisitions; providing schedules and coordinating work; and developing machine specific and general job plans.
Essential Functions- Distribute preventive maintenance and demand work orders in a weekly schedule and assist supervisors and leads with job coordination.
- Collaborate with technical leads and technicians to properly plan work orders, including material management, task estimating for budgetary approval, and customer communication.
- Utilize CMMS to record work order classification, priority, activities, and trade.
- Analyze and report data on demand and preventive maintenance work orders such as overdue, backlog, and receipt/completion statistics for monthly reporting to program manager and supervisor.
- Work with supervisors, leads, technicians, and procurement to ensure accurate and timely communication with requestors regarding the status of work orders (e.g., awaiting parts, on hold, or rescheduled).
- Work with contract administrator to ensure timely and accurate vendor support.
- Provide recommendations regarding facilities equipment and utility systems maintenance programs.
- Comply with established safety and environmental procedures.
- Adjust to changing conditions and occasionally work second shift, holidays, and weekends as required.
- Perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem resolution.
- Communicate facilities requirements to team leads.
- Comply with and enforce Amentum and company policies and safety practices, procedures, and guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and the use of PPE.
- Respond to emergency calls during off‑hours and determine resources needed to mitigate problems.
- Other duties as assigned by management or lead.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of maintenance planning experience in a laboratory, scientific instrumentation, research and development, or industrial environment.
- Experience with a CMMS such as MAXIMO, SAP, or other database systems.
- Qualified applicants must obtain site‑specific security access including all applicable background checks.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- Valid driver’s license (may be required).

- Some tasks require repetitive wrist movement.
- Some tasks require walking extensively during a workday.
- Ability to read and understand information on a computer screen.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment and a computer keyboard to access data bases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
- Ability to attend meetings and potentially travel to other client or vendor locations, including occasional air travel.
- Ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in discussions, meetings, and presentations.
