Metrology Technician at KEEL – Full‑time, North Charleston, SC
Job Summary: Validate parts and assemblies against design intent by collecting data with a Coordinate Measure Machine (CMM) and applying GD&T. Assist trades in fit‑up, perform regular CMM maintenance, and use Spatial Analyzer to analyze data.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree and three (3) years related experience or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year programming CMM, Faro equipment, and Polyworks software experience.
- CMM Level III certification preferred.
Required
Skills and Abilities:
- One (1) year experience operating Laser Tracker and Articulated Arm PCMMs (Faro, Leica, or API).
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably IFS.
- Excellent attention to detail and independent work ability.
- Strong attendance record and job stability.
- Ability to adapt to new situations.
- Read and understand blueprints and drawings.
- Perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate Portable CMM(s) to verify product dimensional compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Operate PCMMs to assist trades in fit‑up (live fit).
- Conduct regular maintenance on PCMM and inspection equipment.
- Collect and analyze data using Spatial Analyzer.
- Understand GD&T.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other hand inspection tools as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain housekeeping in the department.
Travel Requirements: As needed to facilities within the Southeast region.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, machine vibration, noise, high temperatures, and restricted space work area.
