Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Upper Social Studies to join our community during the spring semester of the 2026-27 school year, approximately March 22-April 23, 2027, and again May 4-May 17, 2027 . In this role, the teacher will provide engaging and rigorous instruction for students enrolled in AP US History and AP Human Geography
, supporting students as they develop the analytical, reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills necessary for success in advanced social studies coursework and AP examinations.

The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that encourages students to analyze historical events, geographic patterns, cultural and political developments, and contemporary issues through multiple perspectives. The teacher will guide students in interpreting primary and secondary sources, evaluating evidence, making connections across time and place, and developing well-supported arguments. The teacher will also help students prepare for the AP examinations through purposeful review, practice with AP-style questions and writing, and reinforcement of key course concepts and skills.

Working closely with Upper School colleagues, the teacher will maintain continuity of instruction and support established course plans, curriculum, and classroom expectations. The teacher will contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, respectful discourse, independent thinking, and academic confidence. Regular communication and collaboration with colleagues and families will be an important part of supporting student learning and overall success.

Salary range: $150.00 - $200.00 per day
