Position Summary

We are looking for a software engineer to develop embedded software for airway management devices in acute care settings.
A Day in the LifeYou will be a member of the Acute Care & Monitoring product development team, creating category‑redefining products for the high‑growth airway management portfolio.
You’ll work in a cooperative workspace with cross‑functional partners, including design, research, clinical science, marketing, and engineering.
In this role you will be at the junction of user experience and software engineering, applying deep technical expertise to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities- Work with the software lead to define project goals and deliverables.
- Deliver on project objectives and milestones.
- Bring architectural/design concepts into product design and assist in platform level architectures for multiple product lines.
- Ensure the design, development, and maintenance of complex software systems with high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Develop and debug software for embedded systems, ensuring seamless integration with hardware components.
- Work closely with the hardware team to provide feedback on hardware designs.
- Port complex algorithms into an embedded platform with algorithm engineers.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Generate deliverables (documentation) to support IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Assist in eliciting and creating software requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust software testing strategies, including unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Participate in the design of software verification and validation tests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Participate in system level risk analysis and DFMEA’s.
- Participate in hardware design reviews and component selection; contribute to hardware DFMAEs.
- Create new and maintain existing custom software tools.
- Gather tool requirements.
- Develop scalable architecture.
- Validate and deploy.
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- May work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of relevant experience.
- Any experience in the medical device industry or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex software systems.
- Real‑time software optimization experience.
- Knowledge of network communication protocols and image processing algorithms.
- Experience with continuous development, integration tools, automated testing, and deployment.
- Experience with software risk analysis including failure mode and effects analysis.
- Awareness of medical device and FDA standards.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree and 0 years relevant experience.

Benefits & CompensationCompetitive salary range: $74,400 – $111,600 (US, excluding Puerto Rico). Eligible for Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
