Position: LIBRARY ASSISTANT - Part time

Job Summary:

This position assists with assigned functions of the Catoosa County Library.

Job Duties:

Provides patron services at the front desk; assists patrons with applications, checking materials in and out, renewing materials, collecting overdue fines, and other tasks as needed
Answers telephone; provides information and assistance; takes and forwards messages
Assists patrons with library computers and other electronic resources
Shelves library materials; reads shelves to determine proper shelving
Assists with special library events and programs
Opens and closes library as assigned
Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent
One year clerical or library related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of library programs and services
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
Knowledge of patron services principles and practices
Skill in providing services to patrons
Skill in maintaining files and records
Skill in operating such office equipment as a calculator, copier, and facsimile machine
Skill in interpersonal relations
Skill in oral and written communication
