How You'll Create PossibilitiesThe principal responsibilities of the Tooling Technician include:
- Perform all day-to-day tool room activities, responding to production demands as directed.
- Repair dies using basic and advanced equipment (surface grinders, CNC equipment, Machining Center, Wire EDM).
- Experience with CNC Programming using CAD/CAM and Solid Works is a plus.
- Operate machinery including Surface Grinding, Manual Milling, and Manual Lathes.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex dies; document findings via PM check sheets.
- Evaluate condition and recommend improvements for existing dies, communicating with the Tool-Room leader or Tooling Engineer.
- Follow tooling preventative maintenance procedures.
- Conduct die troubleshooting and monitor tool condition for necessary corrections.
- Knowledge of polishing draw dies to minimize the coefficient of friction.
- Work safely and support Five S initiatives.
- Support Tool-Room Leader, Production, and Engineering; learn and expand tool room skills.
- Support overtime on a rotational basis during weekdays and weekends.
Candidates should have strong die troubleshooting skills, AutoCAD, CAD-CAM experience, and the ability to work in a hot and humid industrial environment.
Additional requirements include:
- HS diploma or equivalent; 2-year technical degree in Tool and Die or 5+ years industrial manufacturing experience;
Journeyman certification preferred. - 5-10 years experience in maintaining or building dies in the stamping industry.
- Understanding of die maintenance, blueprints, and die design.
- Experience with Machining Center programming, setup, and operation is a plus.
- CNC EDM setup and operation experience is a plus.
- Experience as a Machinist or Die-Maker’s Helper is a plus.
- A strong desire to accept tooling challenges and contribute to company success.
