Adjunct Faculty – Welding
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part‑time positions hired each semester on an as‑needed basis at Ivy Tech Community College. The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals, and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned classes using the statewide course syllabus.
- Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy.
- Submit required information within established timelines.
- Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
- Consult with the Program Chair to resolve student concerns.
- Use technology such as Canvas (Ivy Learn) and Microsoft Office.
- Notify program or department chair in case of emergency absence.
- Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
- Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
- Faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 applicable to the specific area of instruction.
- A qualified welding faculty meets all of the following criteria:
- Meets the Industrial Technology program standard, or
- Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman's card in the discipline, with journeyman status for at least two years.
- Possesses a Certified Welding Inspector/Educator credential with at least two years of experience.
- Possesses a professional certification in the field with preparation appropriate to the course and five years of directly related work experience.
- Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in Trade and Industrial
Education:
Welding Technology.
