About This RoleWe are seeking an experienced Substation Testing and Commissioning Foreman to lead testing of electrical equipment in substations, ensuring safe and efficient commissioning of systems across the country. The role requires extensive travel.
What You'll Do- Lead the commissioning and testing of substation equipment, including protection relays, RTUs, breakers, and transformers.
- Conduct functional testing to verify proper operation and integration.
- Guide, mentor, and lead a team of 2–5 technicians.
- Oversee planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with other departments.
- Review electrical drawings and relay settings before commissioning.
- Resolve equipment and site material issues to prevent delays.
- Perform visual inspections and equipment checkouts, ensuring installations are correct.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset, executing pre-energization safety checks.
- Travel to project sites for extended periods as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Associate Degree (2 years) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of testing and commissioning experience for electrical power systems and controls.
- Strong technical proficiency and leadership in field and office.
- Expertise reading single-line diagrams, three-line drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience testing protection equipment such as relays, RTUs, breakers, transformers.
- Proficiency diagnosing and resolving electrical system issues during and after energization.
- Understanding of electrical hazards and commitment to industry safety practices.
Extensive travel, including multi‑week trips, with schedules planned in advance.
