Failure Analysis Technician – Located in Lafayette, IN
Job SummarySupport the day-to-day operations of the Metallurgical Laboratory. Assist the Laboratory Services Manager in problem solving and cost‑saving activities, maintain regular contact with key customers, and collaborate with laboratory and sales teams on project management.
Key Accountabilities- Maintain regular contact with key customers.
- Technical project management for laboratory.
- Work with laboratory and TKSDD sales for project management.
- Participate in quality improvement projects at customer facilities: stamping, plant trials, new product trials, launch support.
- Assist Lab Services Manager in problem solving and cost saving activities.
- Meet TKMNA Employee Attributes / Competencies.
- A2LA Requirements for accreditation.
- Demonstrated competence in operating the metallographic and other testing equipment in laboratory.
- Formal training using the scanning electron microscope.
- Demonstrated competence in technical report writing, and making technical presentations to a diverse audience.
- A strong working knowledge of a steel mill.
- Formal education of at least a B.S. degree in material science or metallurgical engineering.
