Job Title: Quality Engineer 4
Location: Lafayette, IN
Duration: 12 months contract
Pay Rate: $45 to $55 per hour on W2
Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate development of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation:
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Control Plans
- Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Independently schedule and lead APQP readiness meetings with manufacturing engineering teams
- Conduct weekly staff and prioritization meetings
- Track and support recommended actions from PFMEAs
- Review and/or develop:
- Process capability studies
- Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
- Create final Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation
- Present formal updates to stakeholders
- Conduct shop floor activities:
- Shop walks
- Pilot builds
- Layout confirmations
- Cleanliness checks
- Machine evaluations
- Ensure PPE compliance and safety standards on the shop floor
- Support 6-8 concurrent projects across assembly and machining environments
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to ensure quality readiness for capital programs
- Coordinate with teams on metallurgical testing, metrology equipment, CMM programming, and validation results
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering + 8+ years of experience
- Associate’s Degree + 10+ years of experience
- Master’s Degree + 6+ years of experience
- Preferred:
- Hands‑on experience in assembly manufacturing
- Background in automotive
, heavy industry
, or aerospace sectors - Pharma experience is not relevant for this role
- Technical Skills (Required):
- Proficiency in APQP elements: PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow
- Quality and Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Assembly or Machining background
- Basic print reading
- Familiarity with torque tooling, lifting devices, oil/cooling/pressure systems
- Software

- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation abilities
- Ability to lead without formal authority
- Skilled in managing priorities across multiple projects
- Comfortable facilitating cross‑functional meetings (in‑person and virtual)
