Automation Machine Tool Electrician - 2nd & 3rd Shift
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:30pm-11:30pm) & 3rd Shift (11:30pm-7:30am)
Starting Pay: $37.40/hour + 6% Shift Premium
Sign‑On Bonus: $5,000
Job DescriptionThe Automation Machine Tool Electrician will electrically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment. Applicant must possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC, PLC, and relay logic‑controlled machines. Responsibilities include maintaining high safety standards, troubleshooting machinery, documenting repairs, and supporting production demands.
Responsibilities- Repair and maintain Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis grinders, Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, DMG Mori and other industrial machine shop equipment.
- Repair related equipment such as P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, large part washers, ABB robots, CNC machine tools, and other large‑industrial machinery.
- Repair machine controllers including CNC and PLC equipment with Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and other controllers.
- Maintain AC/DC analog and digital drives, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and other drives.
- Maintain measurement and feedback systems such as Heidenhain, inductosyn, and other encoder devices.
- Use basic mechanical skills and hand tools to complete job duties.
- Work effectively as a team member with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self‑motivation.
- Be willing to work overtime to support production demands.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience repairing machine tools and related equipment.
- Experience with Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis, Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, and other machine shop equipment.
- Experience with P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots.
- Proficiency troubleshooting and repairing Relay Log and CNC/PLC controlled machines.
- Proficiency with CNC and PLC equipment – Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon.
- Proficiency with AC/DC analog and digital drives – Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in reading and interpreting machine tool schematics.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools.
- Self‑starter with strong teamwork capabilities.
- Must pass a color blindness test.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must meet physical requirements: fast‑paced, medium to heavy duty, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, standing on concrete for 8+ hours, lift 40 pounds.
- Certified electrician.
- Associate degree in Industrial Automation.
- Full‑time, 40‑hour work week with potential overtime.
