The Diesel Mechanic will be primarily responsible for inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of motor vehicle equipment. The role will report to the Anamosa, Iowa shop daily and will occasionally utilize the company vehicle to answer calls within a three‑hour radius. Candidates should have their own tools. The position involves oil changes, transmission/motor repairs, and basic mechanic duties on cars, trucks, and semis.
Responsibilities- Maintain vehicles, including a company fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, industrial vacuum trucks, hydroblast pumps, tractor/trailers, and other motor vehicles.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune‑ups.
- Test parts and systems to ensure proper function.
- Identify mechanical problems visually or with diagnostic equipment.
- Examine critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning parts such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other components.
- Plan and establish timetables to complete repairs and maintenance.
- Visit job sites to inspect vehicles within a three‑hour radius.
- Test drive vehicles to confirm safe and proper operation.
- Submit purchase orders to ensure a surplus of required parts.
- Perform various other duties and functions as required or assigned.
- Must have two to five years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
- Experience with vacuum trucks or water blasters.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Basic organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Working understanding of safety principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to problem‑solve and develop solutions.
- Follows directions of manager/lead/superintendent and clarifies responsibilities if needed.
- Respects self, co‑workers, managers, company, other contractors, and clients.

- Can lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.

- Can use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely and in a controlled manner.
- Can perform inspections of sites, tools, and equipment.
- Can conduct behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement.
- Follows safety protocol and reports any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.

TrainingMust provide proof of successful completion of OSHA 10‑hour training within 60 days of starting at hth companies.
