Amentum is seeking a 2nd Shift Industrial Automation Service Technician II to join our team in Lafayette, IN!
Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)This position is responsible for providing an intermediate-to-advanced level of expertise in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment tools and related automation equipment. The role focuses on equipment reliability, corrective repair, and preventive maintenance—not CNC operation.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automated equipment and tools, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Identify and correct safety issues; conduct independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures.
- Follow all safety procedures, including JHA, LOTO, and PPE requirements.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on industrial automated equipment using the CMMS system.
- Respond to work orders and communicate repair status, recommendations, and actions taken.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance practices and equipment performance.
- Analyze root causes of machine failures involving electrical controls, mechanical assemblies, product/process issues, or software/logic errors.
- Read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and industrial automated equipment controls schematics.
- Use diagnostic tools, meters, laptop-based service software, and handheld tools to complete repairs.
- Maintain schedule flexibility while prioritizing customer and production needs
- Perform general equipment maintenance as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in industrial equipment repair, machine tool maintenance, or facilities maintenance in a large industrial/commercial environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 ft using lifts.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment substance test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. Citizenship required for facility access).
- Ability to obtain a security access badge.
- Ability to work overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, holidays when required.
- Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
- Frequent climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, and repetitive motion.
- Extensive walking throughout the facility.
- Ability to differentiate wire-coding colors.
- Ability to use approved tools including utility knives.
- Professional interaction with customers during stressful conditions.
- Use of PPE including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage job‑related stress while maintaining performance standards.
- Associate’s degree in industrial electrical, mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience with 480V 3-phase equipment, motor controls, and industrial electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing industrial automated equipment motors, drives, encoders, PLC interfaces, and control systems.
- Experience using PC-based CMMS systems for work orders and time reporting.
$25.00 - $27.00
