About the RoleThe Project Estimator is responsible for collaborating with clients, business partners, and internal project teams to prepare and manage project preconstruction services and estimates. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and complete cost projections that support successful project execution.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Accurate Project Estimates Produce complete, precise estimates with quotes for every scope of work in alignment with project plans and specifications.
Maintain Viewpoint Estimate Database Keep estimating databases updated with accurate work items, current pricing, and historical cost data.
Maintain Building Connected Database Maintain a robust and qualified subcontractor database to ensure adequate bid coverage and market representation.
Tasks & ResponsibilitiesPrepare conceptual and schematic estimates to establish initial project benchmarks.
Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and surveys.
Gather and analyze historical data to support accurate unit pricing.
Develop preconstruction schedules and coordinate with design teams.
Bid ManagementPrepare and manage bid day operations in coordination with the project team.
Identify and develop bid packages and scopes of work.
Coordinate with bidders to ensure complete and competitive proposals.
Issue invitations to bid and ensure proper bid coverage.
Coordination & Document ManagementReview and manage project drawings, sketches, details, directives, and files.
Coordinate with architects, designers, and internal teams throughout preconstruction.
Lead estimate review meetings and turnover sessions with operations teams.
Develop and maintain estimating templates, tools, and databases.
Identify and qualify subcontractors and vendors in relevant markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Maintain subcontractor and vendor databases to ensure adequate resources for all scopes.
Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred.
Minimum 3 years of preconstruction or estimating experience preferred.
Skills & QualificationsStrong organizational and planning skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
General knowledge of estimating software.
Technical writing abilities (a plus).
Innovative, proactive, and collaborative mindset.
