Pediatric Neurosurgeon

Pediatric Neurosurgeon role at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. This position focuses on direct patient care in pediatric neurosurgery and related emergency services.

• Provide direct patient care and emergency services to meet pediatric patients' health care needs.
• Supervise and direct all care rendered, and develop treatment protocols for patients in the practice as needed.
• Assist in meeting accreditation and legal requirements and regulations of the hospital (e.g., JCAHO, City, State, and Federal).
• Collaborate with the Physician Practice Management Director and other management and clinical staff to assure smooth operation of the practice.
• Maintain working knowledge of licensing, credentialing, and reimbursement issues; participate in evaluating the competency of support staff.
• Maintain good working relationships with consulting, referring and attending physicians and other health professionals.
• Participate in hospital Medical Staff committees as required.
• Adhere to Standards of Medical Practice and contribute to quality assurance indicators for the practice.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of all patient care activities.
• Follow corporate policies on fire and safety, hazardous materials handling (if applicable), and infection control.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and independent judgment in evaluating patient care; utilize resources to meet patient and family health care needs.
• Assist in improving medical and nursing care within the practice and provide recommendations for equipment, staffing, space, utilization, quality assurance, and related areas.
• Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality; maintain courteous and respectful interactions with patients, families, and staff.
• Explain therapies and treatments to patients and families as needed; maintain a safe, clean, and private patient care environment; orient new personnel.
• Develop and maintain good rapport with staff and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

• MD with current unrestricted Louisiana Medical License
• BLS Certification
