Responsibilities

Career Coordinator job duties and expectations are outlined below:

  • Program & Policy Compliance
  • Follow UL LIFE, University, and Think College policies and use resources accordingly
  • Assist in accreditation efforts by developing or providing required documentation
  • Follow Graduation Checklist with graduating cohort
  • Respond to critical situations promptly and report all concerns, including personnel matters, to the Director
  • Track and report PD (Professional Development) and supply spending
  • Supervision & Recruitment
  • Oversee assigned graduate assistant(s), including those supporting Employment
  • Recruit and support peer mentors
  • Curriculum, Courses & Advising
  • Coordinate, develop, and implement innovative course content for LIFE-specific classes focused on career development
  • Conduct career/internship advising meetings as needed
  • Assist students in writing Individualized Learning Agreements (ILAs) and developing GATE (Graduating Alumni Transition Exploration) Plans as they pertain to students' career goals
  • Student Planning & Support
  • Support individual student needs and provide academic assistance, including planning and organization
  • Implement Person-Centered Planning
  • Monitor student progress and maintain communication with families
  • Assist students with creating resumes, cover letters, Employment Goal Plans, and Employee Snapshots
  • Collect and use data to guide internship and job placement decisions
  • Program & Curriculum Development
  • Create and implement the Employment Guide and Job Continuum Plan
  • Design and oversee internship placements and work sampling sites
  • Develop and review Internship Assessments and Job Evaluations with students
  • Collaborate with IL Coordinator on transition planning and with Academic Coordinator on LIFE student course planning
  • Provide post-program job placement suggestions to students and families
  • Training & Education
  • Train mentors on internship/employment roles during fall and spring orientations
  • Conduct Work-Based Training with students each fall as appropriate
  • Train employers and staff on Disability Etiquette and the employment component of UL LIFE
  • Host annual training for all employment partnerships
  • Partnership & Employer Engagement
  • Form and maintain employment partnerships through outreach and relationship-building
  • Host informational meetings with potential employers
  • Conduct regular employer follow-ups, gather feedback, and provide support
  • Mentorship & Oversight
  • Observe job sites and provide feedback to employment mentors
  • Oversee and support assigned employment-focused graduate assistant
  • Student & Alumni Engagement
  • Oversee Learn with LIFE – Community Conversations
  • Serve as a GATE (Graduating Alumni Transition Exploration) Plan team member
  • Events & Engagement
  • Plan and participate in programmatic events (Orientation, Preview Day, Interviews, Trainings, Graduation, Recruiting)
  • Represent UL LIFE at university functions and support student campus involvement
  • Participate in staff engagement opportunities and professional development opportunities (e.g., SEPSEA, SOTA)
  • Serve on-call in assigned rotation
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Maintain effective communication with staff, team members, and Director
  • Consult with peers and Director on student support strategies
  • Introduce program contacts and collaborators to colleagues as appropriate
  • Marketing & Outreach
  • Assist in developing marketing and publicity materials for target audiences
  • Create employment-related content for newsletters and social media related to courses and domain areas
  • Respond to inquiries about the UL LIFE program
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education, special education, or related field
  • Experience working with and educating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching certification in education or special education
  • Experience working with special education or inclusive postsecondary education
  • Experience developing and assessing educational curriculum
  • Experience working with career development or employment assistance programs/services
  • Supervision experience
