PositionAssistant Professor in Athletic Training (MSAT), School of Kinesiology, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, nine-month tenure track appointment. This position will report to the Director of the School of Kinesiology.
ResponsibilitiesA tenure track faculty member is expected to excel in teaching, develop a strong research agenda, engage in service, and be an active team member to advance the School of Kinesiology in alignment with our vision and mission.
Work with colleagues to continually assess and improve the CAATE accredited program.
Teaching focus will center on MSAT program needs with the possibility of undergraduate kinesiology courses housed in the Pre-Athletic Training concentration.
Assist with student advising in the Pre-Athletic Training concentration.
Administrative UnitUL Lafayette (R1) is the largest of nine publicly supported universities in the University of Louisiana system with an enrollment of approximately 19,000 students (as of fall 2025). The School of Kinesiology houses both graduate (M.S. in Athletic Training and Kinesiology) and undergraduate programs (B.S. Health and Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sport Management, Health Promotion and Wellness) with over a total of 1,000 enrolled students.
The facilities include a 1,500+ sq. ft. human performance laboratory and athletic training laboratory. For further details on laboratory equipment please contact the search committee chair.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- -Earned doctorate in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or a related discipline. ABD eligible to apply.
- -An understanding of CAATE standards and integration of standards into teaching as well as assessment activities
- -Teaching experience (didactic or clinical education experiences)
- -Previous or current experience with clinical practice as a certified athletic trainer
- -Evidence of a successful applied research and scholarship agenda
- -Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC)
- -Eligible for obtaining licensure or currently licensed in the state of Louisiana as an athletic trainer (LSBME)
- -If selected candidate is ABD, they will be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that the candidate finish the doctoral degree within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- -BOC certification for five years or longer
- -Clinical practice as an athletic trainer for five years or longer
- -Greater than three years of college-level teaching
- -Experience with distance learning instruction
- -Prior experience with CAATE accreditation process
- -Record of inter-professional collaboration in curriculum development and/or research
- -History of extramural funding or potential for funding
- -Demonstrated professional service at state, regional, national, and/or international levels.
- -Contemporary expertise in Domain 4 (therapeutic intervention) content established by BOC.
- -Availability for summer teaching (online or in person).
Negotiable commensurate with qualifications, rank, and experience.
