This position involves participating in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Responsibilities include initiating and managing Life Support Systems under physician supervision, performing tasks within licensing scope, and functioning with limited supervision based on education and guidance from physicians and supervisory staff.

• Deliver standardized respiratory therapy procedures according to clinical guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies.
• Assist with fiber optic bronchoscopies, including patient preparation, monitoring, specimen handling, and post-procedure care.
• Perform basic spirometry studies, ensuring calibration and accuracy.
• Identify risks and perform arterial punctures proficiently, minimizing hazards.
• Assist physicians and nurses in cardiopulmonary stress testing and operate related equipment.
• Demonstrate proficiency across all age groups—adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, and infants.
• Assess patient responses to oxygen therapy and recognize signs of cardiopulmonary distress.
• Initiate resuscitation and life-support measures as needed, certified in CPR.
• Manage ventilators, analyze blood samples, and recommend interventions.
• Lead, teach, and serve as a role model for team members.
• Plan and organize activities for optimal patient care.
• Participate in staff development and patient education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate's Degree or equivalent from a CoArc-approved program (or 10 years licensed experience).
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire; NRP also required for Women's and Children's positions.
• Successful NBRC certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist; current NBRC credential required.
• Current Louisiana state license or temporary permit issued by LSBME.
