Job Description

The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning all resident apartments, public areas, and work areas within the guidelines, policies, and procedures of the property, as directed by the Executive Director, Maintenance Director, or Housekeeping Supervisor.

Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor, Maintenance Director, or Executive Director.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

The duties described below are representative of those encountered while performing the basic functions of the position. This list is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.   • Clean all resident apartments, common areas, and offices to ensure a clean environment, including furnishings, fixtures, windows, mirrors, blinds, bathroom fixtures, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings. Use proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions, and set up safety signs when necessary.
  • Follow work/cleaning schedules closely.
  • Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Remove trash and waste from all areas inside the facility.
  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and attractive condition, free of hazards.
  • Use protective equipment when handling hazardous materials or waste.
  • Follow proper procedures for mixing and using cleaning chemicals, including adherence to manufacturer instructions and safety data sheets.
  • Report missing or improperly labeled hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintain infection control and universal precautions, including proper PPE use and waste disposal.
  • Clean resident beds and furniture upon transfer or discharge, following prescribed techniques.
  • Clean and stock housekeeping carts, ensuring chemicals are secured and carts are locked when unattended.
  • Take used mops and cloths to laundry at the end of shifts.
  • Disinfect main bathtubs daily.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions.
  • Work flexibly, including some holidays and additional shifts as needed.
  • Support community marketing efforts through positive interactions during tours and calls.
  • Report any resident condition changes immediately.
  • Interact tactfully and friendly with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Maintain a safe environment following safety standards.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation with colleagues and other departments.
  • Represent a positive and professional image through actions and attire.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
