Infusion Nurse II – Per Diem – Lafayette, LA

Option Care Health, Inc. – the largest independent home and alternate site infusion services provider in the United States. We are seeking a licensed RN to coordinate and provide intermediate direct patient care in the home or alternate infusion suite.

Job Description Summary

An Infusion Nurse II delivers coordinated infusion care under the supervision of a designated supervisor, ensuring patient safety and compliance with a physician’s plan of care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Initiate, develop, and implement intermediate nursing plan of care treatments, evaluating patient progress toward goals; adapt plans as necessary.
  • Assess patient needs at each skilled visit, perform physical reassessment and evaluate response to therapy; obtain and clarify physician orders, providing written summaries promptly.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Educate patients and families on therapy independence using a patient‑centered approach.
  • Communicate effectively with the Option Care Clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families to facilitate continuity of care; prepare and submit real‑time documentation per billing timelines.
  • Coordinate discharge planning, preparing discharge summaries with patient instructions and progress reports for care transitions.
  • Demonstrate compliance with agency operations, policies, professional standards, and all applicable regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Maximize work efficiency through the use of computers and automation technologies; validate orders and communicate care provided.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Accept accountability for personal practice through ethical and professional conduct; adhere to established programs and policies.
  • Observe legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding patient confidentiality, including HIPAA regulations.
  • Explain Option Care’s scope of services and related financial obligations to patients.
  • Maintain competency and licensure via required training, in‑services, continuing education, and supervision of paraprofessionals when applicable.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and mentor nurses in orientation, onboarding, and supervisory activities as assigned.
  • Participate in nursing department on‑call responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Additional Clinical Tasks (If Applicable)
  • Insert PICC/Midlines per physician order.
  • Diagnose and treat obstructed central line catheters.
  • Monitor PICC/Midlines and educate on infection prevention and routine care.
Basic

Education and Experience
  • Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Competency in patient care standards and infusion skill sets applicable to agency programs.
  • Hands‑on experience with infusion technologies and medication administration.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle and proof of liability insurance for business travel.
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems and nursing technology tools.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs (maximum 75 lbs) and exerting up to 20 lbs of force sometimes, 10 lbs frequently.
  • Repetitive walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying.
  • Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, sharps, chemicals, adverse weather, and unpredictable home environments.
  • Safety requirements: closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves, and functioning communication device.
Travel Requirements
  • Willing to travel up to 100 % of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • 1–2 years of previous infusion nursing experience preferred.
Salary

Pay Range: $36.89–$61.49 per hour. Final salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity and market data.
