Primary Purpose & Function
Maintain safe and effective control and coordination of all equipment, materials and personnel between shorebases and job location. Must maintain liaison between customer, shorebase and various vendors. Work is primarily performed outdoors in every kind of weather condition and under unpleasant conditions. Depending on task performed, the noise intensity ranges from moderate to extreme. Some tasks require working with very hot materials and hazardous substances.

- Adhering to EPS safe operations procedures.
- Responsible for all rigging procedures according to EPS Rigging Manual.
- Ensure that all clients’ expectations are delivered.
- Assisting in the planning of rigging and lifting procedures to be performed.
- Determine weight – make sure the load to be lifted is known and that the sling has adequate capacity.
- Decide on hitch or end attachment – choose a hitch that accommodates the load’s shape, size and weight, considering any possible physical damage.
- Check lifting device – ensure it has sufficient capacity, is in proper working condition and provides required maneuverability.
- Consider room to life – ensure the lifting device has sufficient space to pick up the load and handle it with the sling length added to the hook.
- Determine sling length – use the longest sling possible to provide the smallest angle of spread between the sling legs.
- Check rated capacity – verify the sling’s safe working load capacity using the rated capacity chart, double‑checking length, type and diameter.
- Determine leg styles – use multi‑part slings for flexibility and handling of extremely heavy lifts.
- Check everything – before a lift, test rigging, blocking, sling and load protection, and confirm safety devices are in place.
- Put it away – after the job, inspect the sling for damage, tag or return it to storage, and store it in a damage‑free location.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to demonstrate safe operation of equipment.
- Must be able to travel safely to locations.
- Possess a valid rigging certificate, TWIC card, Water Survival, Safe Gulf and any other certifications that the client determines necessary.
