Job SummaryThe Product Development Engineer works with the Research and Development team to explore new product areas across all divisions of the Mountville family of businesses. Daily tasks include working with both Sales/Marketing and Production departments to drive enhancements to existing products or establish new product opportunities.
Essential Functions- Helps direct all “new product” projects through the DRIVE innovation process model.
- Solve complex problems by exercising critical thought, analyzing appropriate data, and driving potential recommended paths forward with a creative and open-minded approach.
- Embraces a hands‑on approach to managing all prototyping and testing associated with new product trials.
- Identify goals, metrics, and analytics to determine product value; continually make recommendations and refinements to the product backlog based on learnings.
- Research growing trends in all market segments of the Mountville family of businesses.
- Monitor research as well as the competitive landscape to recommend the best solutions and ensure that products remain or become best in class.
- Work to maintain a high level of knowledge of all current and potential raw materials relevant to our market segments.
- Travel to industry trade shows to identify new technologies, raw materials, or other components that can enhance an existing product or propel the launch of a new product.
- Communicate with existing and potential vendors necessary to enhance or launch a new product.
- Improve our R&D organizational performance by continually developing subject‑matter expertise and coaching/educating our technical community.
- Coordinate with appropriate marketing personnel to ensure a successful product launch.
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university. An emphasis in engineering is a plus. A successful individual is a self‑starter with project management experience and the ability to build relationships across multiple business areas and levels. We are seeking a team player with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). A creative thinker with engineering fundamentals who enjoys hands‑on manufacturing environments is a must.
WorkingConditions
Standard office hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm); however, overtime and weekends may be required. Travel may be required between various plants within LaGrange, GA and Dalton, GA.
