Licensed Practical Nurse 3 – Immunization Program Coordinator

District 4 Public Health

Travel required to all 12 counties.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the planning and implementation of the immunization program for all District 4 Clinics based on ACIP recommendations.
    • Develops strategies to advance the program based on data collection and programmatic assessments.
      • Completes a population-based study annually to assess the percentage of children up to date on immunizations by age two.
      • Compiles district‑wide data for annual assessment to evaluate children 19–35 months of age.
      • Submits a monthly programmatic report detailing progress toward targeted measurements, including promotional activities for national campaigns, training activities, and perinatal Hepatitis B case management data.
    • Ensures all providers administer vaccines per ACIP Recommendations by completing an annual Quality Assurance Visit at all District 4 Clinics.
    • Ensures county health departments meet VFC programmatic requirements through audit activities and regular monitoring of clinic compliance.
    • Works with the infectious disease program to follow up on infants born to mothers with hepatitis B infection and coordinate vaccination and testing as needed.
    • Ensures immunization services are integrated into all other service visits.
  • Acts as subject‑matter expert for the District, providing technical assistance and training for public health nursing staff and stakeholders.
    • Ensures county staff are trained to perform immunization assessments at childcare, kindergarten, and seventh‑grade programs and that data are entered into SENDSS.
    • Collaborates with the District Immunization Program Consultant to develop an annual educational plan for clinic staff, private providers, schools, daycare centers, and the public.
    • Completes the Train the Trainer Training annually; ensures all immunization clinical personnel receive initial and annual training and meet VFC training requirements.
    • Disseminates programmatic changes and current vaccine information to county managers and nurses.
  • Evaluates vaccination status of disease contacts and public health employees to prevent spread of vaccine‑preventable diseases.
    • Collaborates with the District Epidemiologist and infection disease unit to assess immunization status during outbreaks and coordinate post‑exposure vaccination.
    • Evaluates vaccination status of District employees and provides related education.
  • Provides educational presentations and tools and oversees community marketing efforts.
    • Promotes CDC immunization campaigns through outreach and marketing.
  • Assists the District Nursing Director with managing the budget allocation for the program.
  • Works with county health department staff to engage community partners, including school districts, to advance the immunization program.
    • Disseminates School‑Based Flu Project information and coordinates efforts as needed.
    • Attends Flu Stakeholders' Meetings via phone conference.
    • Ensures county clinics submit accountability forms and billing information to the state after a School‑Based Flu event.
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of computer skills, including spreadsheets.
  • Under general supervision, provides technical assistance and training within a health‑care specialty, plans, directs, and implements a specialty program, and evaluates programs for compliance with state or federal guidelines.
  • Acts as liaison to the State Immunization Office.
    • Disseminates information and communications from the State Immunization Office.
    • Attends all quarterly Immunization Coordinator meetings.
    • Files all reports in a timely manner.
    • Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and update knowledge of ACIP recommendations, VFC requirements, and state immunization requirements.
  • Qualifications

    Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college AND four years of LPN public health experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND CPR certification.
