Facilities Maintenance Manager - located in LaGrange GA
Wellstar Health System is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Manager based in LaGrange GA to lead the Engineering Department and support our mission of enhancing health and well‑being.
Job SummaryDirects the Engineering Department, chairs the Environment of Care Committee, implements EOC management plans, assists the Safety Officer, manages safety surveillance program, and authorizes corrective maintenance. Develops departmental policies, coordinates contract maintenance and installations, and oversees critical system preventive maintenance and repairs for boiler and steam systems, vertical transport, plumbing and water, electrical power, emergency power, HVAC, medical gases, and natural gas.
Ensures compliance with local, state, federal regulations and Joint Commission standards, maintains a competent staff, and provides excellent customer service to associates, physicians, visitors, and patients.
- Coordinate with Supervisor to maintain interior/exterior appearance of assigned facilities.
- Facilitate interior signage program by ordering replacement signage and supervising installation.
- Schedule and conduct routine facility visits to maintain Well Star level of appearance and operation.
- Maintain accurate logs and ledgers for local, state, and federal requirements.
- Address facility management needs proactively.
- Communicate effectively with all management levels.
- Maintain updated list and status of West Georgia / Medical Group off‑campus facilities.
- Plan and implement equipment and system upgrades to avoid costly repairs and downtime.
- Maintain testing records for utility systems (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, medical gas, backflows, generator, etc.).
- Assist with managing approved capital items/projects.
- Develop operational and capital budgets for engineering and clinical engineering and assist ancillary departments.
- Implement proper accounting procedures for charging parts and labor to appropriate charge codes.
- Evaluate and implement energy‑conservation improvements.
- Advise department Director on long‑ and short‑term capital plans.
- Coordinate with direct reports to schedule work duties timely and cost‑efficiently.
- Review construction drawings for assigned facilities.
- Complete special projects and assignments thoroughly and promptly.
- Ensure cost‑effective control of parts and materials used for repairs.
- Manage and coordinate with Supervisors and Team Leaders for on‑call responsibilities, perform follow‑up with written and verbal reports.
- Perform special tasks as assigned.
- Schedule work duties timely and cost‑efficiently.
- Comply with department shift start/stop and break times.
- Evaluate personnel needs and changes.
- Perform annual personnel evaluations and related duties.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a similar field.
- Other education or certifications from accredited institutions (required).
- All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- Minimum 5 years in mechanical, facilities, and people management.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and LSC compliance a plus.
