Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe care. The RN Clinical Nurse uses the nursing process, evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking and patient‑centered collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions• Performs the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence‑based practice.
• Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
• Partners with patients and significant others using bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds and planned patient teaching, keeping patients’ goals the focus of the plan of care.
• Practices using current clinical practice standards.
• Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including timely documentation and inclusive interdisciplinary communication.
• Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration with fiscal responsibility and promotes recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
• Participates and supports performance improvement, inclusive of all stakeholders, research and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care.
• Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education and population‑specific education.
• Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses to ensure a current and future qualified workforce.
• Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement in nursing.
• Upholds all health care system policies and procedures and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards.
• Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence‑based practice and consults appropriate experts.
• Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited nursing school (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) from an accredited nursing school (Preferred)
- Registered Nurse (State) or RN – Multi‑state Compact (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor (Required)
- Minimum 1 year of current direct patient care experience (Required)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant, recent acute care clinical nursing experience (Required)
- Ability to read, write and speak English and use technology to support clinical care (Required)
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills and customer service skills (Required)
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed and respectful manner (Required)
- Excellent time management skills (Required)
- Practice nursing using evidence, analytical skills, and strong critical thinking skills (Required)
