Shift: Day Shift

Pay Range*: $54.19/hr to $68.37/hr

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values:

The Wound/Ostomy care Nurse functions as a clinical and a professional role model for nursing staff; demonstrating accountability, performance and responsibility in clinical practice. The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse oversees and as indicated, provides education and training to the nursing staff on wound/ostomy related issues/topics. Additionally, the Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse provides age-specific education to patient and family regarding wound/ostomy self-care issues. The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource person to facilitate problem-solving and support decision making skills of staff and patients.

The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse functions as a change agent to improve patient care and supports interdisciplinary collaboration

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
  • Evaluates nursing care given to a specific patient population and provides guidance to management, staff and physicians, as indicated
  • Identifies needs and plans to implement educational programs as appropriate for staff, patients and the community.
  • Serves in a consultative role to staff, management and/or healthcare professionals within the hospital and community.
  • Participates in department/unit-based performance improvement programs.
  • Serves as a leader in development and attainment of organizational goals.
  • Self-directed in fostering personal expertise and future professional development.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and directives.

* Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications

Qualifications/

Work Experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience in an Acute Care Hospital setting working with adult patient populations, including wound care
  • Windows, computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft office applications preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) and Certified Ostomy Care Nurse (COCN) certification required
