Under the supervision of the Director of Pre-College TRIO Programs, the Math Tutor will provide consistent, small-group and individualized mathematics tutoring during the school day to Talent Search participants at Cardinal Middle-Senior High School. Tutoring will align with classroom instruction and focus on building skills in key mathematics content areas. The Math Tutor will collaborate with Cardinal teachers to identify student needs, monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
As a member of the Talent Search project team, the Math Tutor will support achievement of project goals and objectives and comply with applicable federal and institutional requirements.

- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in mathematics and the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to secondary students.
- Instructional, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel, Talent Search staff and students.
- Ability to identify student learning needs, monitor progress and adjust tutoring strategies accordingly.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the Talent Search target population required.
- Experience tutoring or working with secondary students, particularly students from under-resourced backgrounds, preferred.
- Provide regular small-group and individualized mathematics tutoring during the school day to Talent Search participants at Cardinal Middle-Senior High School.
- Align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and provide targeted skill-building in key mathematics content areas.
- Collaborate with Cardinal teachers and Talent Search staff to identify student needs, monitor academic progress and adjust instruction.
- Maintain accurate tutoring, participation and student progress records as required by the Talent Search project.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Pre-College TRIO Programs regarding student progress, tutoring needs and challenges encountered.
- Support a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for Talent Search participants.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

* This position is dependent on grant funding and subject to change based on availability of funds.
Employment Length193 days consistent with Cardinal school district calendar.
ScheduleUp to 12 hours per week during the school day; schedule coordinated with Cardinal Middle-Senior High School and the Director of Pre-College TRIO Programs.
