JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. Role

Summary

The M/E Engineer 3 will complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities. This position will be responsible for collecting and assembling data, developing estimates and generating systems and bid analysis. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Autonomy & Decision-Making:
    Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

  • Learn and actively participate in safety and quality plans and culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Complete entry level and routine mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates based upon program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating system.
  • Assist in review of mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and complete systems analysis for select projects.
  • Develop the mechanical and electrical scopes of work used to coordinate during the bid process.
  • Assist in bid analysis and input during subcontractor selection.
  • Develop sequencing requirements of various systems and solutions to meet schedule requirements.
  • Identify potential quality problems by reviewing design documents to support constructability review reports.
  • Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
  • Assist with shop drawing/submittal process to comply with contract documents.
  • Assist with commissioning process including pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures and actual functional testing.
  • Lead, support and promote diversity and inclusion; adhere to JE Dunn non-discrimination policy.
Additional Core Responsibilities
  • Complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates; review options, complete systems analysis, recommend best system and provide value engineering suggestions.
  • Coordinate the mechanical and electrical scopes during bid process; provide scheduling input.
  • Review design documents and identify quality issues; help develop quality control programs.
  • Perform job inspections to ensure quality work.
  • Develop pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verify contractor’s performance.
  • Review and approve shop drawings before submitting to design team.
  • Generate and issue the Commissioning Plan for approval; verify deficiencies are corrected and submit commissioning documentation to owners.
  • Mentor less experienced co-workers; create M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes.
  • Lead, support and promote diversity and inclusion; adhere to non-discrimination policy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Verbal and written communication skills (intermediate).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate).
  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Develop proficiency in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
