Job DescriptionThis role is responsible for the management of site Process Control systems at our Sulphur, LA site. Support the development and implementation of Grace and Industry best practices (IEC 61511), Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review) and Purchasing/GRs (General Reagent)/New Vendors/Requisition s.
Responsibilities- Implement process control standards and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure). Provide process control support for project design and execution
- Oversee the troubleshooting of DCS (Distributed Control System) process control issues
- Manage DCS hardware infrastructure and ensure DCS System backup
- Implement functional description into DCS logic based upon LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis)
- Implement process for maintaining DCS system documentation (Alarm, Interlock, P& – Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) and the Honeywell PHD database
- Verify reliability and accuracy of equipment/instrumentation for the monitoring of process applications. Conduct loop checks and DCS validation of new equipment
- Develop scope for technical process control programs and conduct DCS user training
- Provide guidance and expert knowledge for safety programs and initiatives
- Support and facilitate RCAs (Root Cause Analysis)
- Write and edit SOP (Standard Operating Procedure)/work instructions
- Conduct and Support Commissioning and Startup Activities, daily plant inspections of the control system and OIRs and incident investigations
- Redline Engineering Drawings and Documents
- Manage and catalog engineering documents, drawings, process information and updates for P&, MOC and Interlock Schedule
- Execute productivity projects. Conduct data sourcing and analysis.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline
- One (1) year of experience in the job or as a Control Systems Engineer, Electrical/Control Engineer, Project Engineer or closely related occupation working in a chemical manufacturing plant/environment responsible for maintaining, improving and upgrading distributed control systems (DCS) and implementing safety and quality procedures
- Must have process control and instrumentation experience, as well as experience reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&) documentation/drawings, maintaining DCS systems documentation, conducting root cause analysis, troubleshooting DCS process control issues, and implementing process control standards
- Experience must include utilizing Allen Bradley safety PLC systems and applying data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions.
