Job SummaryThe CSA Building Field Engineer will report to the Lead Building Field Engineer/Area Manager and provide technical assistance, direction, and support to field supervision for construction and installation activities of building equipment and materials. Responsibilities include work planning, packaging, material management, safety & quality control, technical inspection, coordination of system turnover, and subcontractor management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide construction knowledge of permanent building construction and interface coordination.
- Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues.
- Establish communications with subcontractors and field engineers.
- Manage quantity take‑off, control, tracking and validation of subcontractor installation scope.
- Direct preparation of requisitions for field procured materials and services.
- Review material receiving reports and ensure correct delivery of electrical and instrumentation materials.
- Coordinate interfaces for CSA/SMPE and instrumentation data exchange.
- Develop and manage the CSA construction quality program including review of subcontractor ITP/QA plans, final as‑built and MRB completion.
- Plan and support construction schedules with field supervision and subcontractors.
- Plan and recommend installation procedures & PBQs to ensure compliance with design and specifications.
- Prepare documentation for permit approval and inspection.
- Coordinate system start‑up, turnover, client walk‑down and permit inspections.
- Coordinate temporary works design and interface.
- Prepare and lead construction drawings, schedules, and as‑built drawings.
- Manage work planning & packaging & ITR preparation for smart completion reporting.
- Use Bechtel applications such as Smart Completion, TEAMWorks, DSCS, Q4 Permit, Propeller, and UPV model.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
- Construction experience on a site with heavy industrial projects.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes.
- Effective communication skills.
- Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Knowledge of engineering systems, startup and operations; previous commissioning roles.
- Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards.
- Team collaboration and leadership skills with ability to provide technical guidance.
- Understanding of project workflows from design to commissioning.
- Experience managing technical services subcontracts.
- Experience on an LNG construction site, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
- Understanding of Bechtel work processes, Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) such as Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks.
- Strong supervision experience and ability to lead and manage change.
Conduct field inspections requiring extensive walking in high heat, climbing ladders, scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and confined spaces; ability to lift and use PPE such as harnesses, life vests, lift buckets.
