Job DescriptionThe Workface Planner Piping/Mechanical will prepare Installation Work Packages (IWPs), Material Take‑offs (MTO) & Test Work Packages (TWPs) for specific disciplines and support office construction activities, constructability reviews, safety in design, construction input to engineering and procurement teams, and improve Total Installed Cost (TIC) on projects.
Major Responsibilities- Develop Installation Work Packages (IWPs), Test Work Packages (TWPs) for piping installations and detailed 90‑Day schedule release plan with superintendent or field engineer.
- Review installation priorities, scope, sequences, resources, equipment needs, pre‑work, materials and support services.
- Coordinate scope of IWP/TWP with piping field engineer and obtain approval.
- Perform random inspection of IWP/TWP prepared by other planners.
- Understand work packaging philosophy, scope of installation, Work Breakdown Structure and scoping of installation work packages.
- Monitor project schedule and ensure timely delivery of IWP/TWP and coordinate with Project Controls, planners and stakeholders.
- Ensure quality of IWP/TWP, attend progress meetings and maintain interface with site management and client organization.
- Compile mechanical & piping installation drawings, isometrics, installation details, vendor drawings, inspection test records, flange connection datasheets and other Engineering deliverables.
- Develop other construction engineering deliverables such as material takeoff of Piping bulk material and vendor supplied piping components and bulks; upload quantities to TEAMWorks database.
- Prepare method statement for module interconnects, field welds, removal of shipping supports and other installation activities.
- Prepare IWP constraints list and assist in resolution and closure of constraints or engineering issues.
High School/GED
Additional Qualifications / ResponsibilitiesRequires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills- Experience in piping installation on large Oil & Gas projects / process industry projects.
- Preparation of piping installation work packages and piping test work packages.
- Proficient in reading drawings, interpreting design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3/B31.1.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient MS Office applications.
- Experience in piping and equipment installation.
Work requires physical ability to conduct field inspections including extensive walking in and around a construction site in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must walk in and out of the project (enter/egress). Must use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task.
