In this role, you will lead a high‑performance team to develop and manage complex Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) project programs. You will assist functional leads to ensure requirements are properly integrated and be responsible for overall project ES&H execution. Your leadership will help achieve ES&H performance expectations, compliance, and continuous improvement. This role is assigned to night shift.

Project Overview

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid‑scale, mixed‑refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. Five identical process plants each contain a gas pre‑treatment unit, a condensate stabilization unit, and four heavy hydrocarbon removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000 m³ full‑containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise an ES&H night‑shift program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects, compliance activities, and processes and plans associated with all three ES&H disciplines.
  • Supervise ES&H personnel and facilitate their development through assignments, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Assure that ES&H requirements are properly interpreted and integrated in planning documents, design criteria, construction and operational plans, schedules, training programs, and subcontract documents.
  • Apply Bechtel’s ES&H Management System and standards to achieve, maintain, and continually improve ES&H program execution.
  • Assure support within ES&H teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regarding ES&H requirements.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for interpreting and implementing ES&H requirements, evaluating risks, and developing suitable plans and methods for a robust ES&H program.
  • Help write and oversee implementation of Environmental Management Plans, Safety and Health Management Plans, and other ES&H plans in compliance with Bechtel’s ES&H Management System, standards, and contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish ES&H emergency preparedness planning and confirm investigation and resolution of ES&H incidents.
  • Conduct assessments and inspections, and participate in audits, to confirm ES&H compliance with contractual commitments, laws and regulations, environmental permit requirements, and Bechtel standards.
  • Confirm that environmental permitting, specialized studies, assessments, reports, and regulatory submittals are completed as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health or science‑related discipline and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of best professional ES&H practices in conducting accident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys.
  • Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
  • Proficiency in assisting construction with development of 90‑day ES&H risk reviews, risk assessments, mobile equipment personnel interface site plans, and associated job hazard analysis; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain, explore, and discuss safety issues with a range of stakeholders.
  • Skilled in working collaboratively with others in a complex integrated environment.
  • Lead and participate as required in incident investigations, preparing Initial Incident Notifications, conducting investigations, and completing Incident Investigation Reports, meeting quality and timeframe expectations.
