POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARYLouisiana Bridge Builders ("LBB") is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

LOCATIONThis position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan, schedule, and monitor engineering projects from initiation through completion.
- Review project specifications and requirements and prepare project plans and documentation.
- Coordinate between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure project goals are met.
- Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
- Assist in budget preparation and cost tracking.
- Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation.
- Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
- Provide technical support and problem‑solving during project execution.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality of work.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports to project management team.
- Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Review all certificates and permits needed to perform work.
- Prepare work plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s).
- Prepare submittals for approval for materials, equipment, formworks, etc.
- Hire, motivate, and lead a high‑performing team through coaching, top‑tier talent retention, and directed recruiting efforts.
- Supervises team, including training, providing work direction, problem‑solving assistance, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
- Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
- Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
- Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
- Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.
- Ability to maintain a valid and current driver’s license.
At a minimum, the Project Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field of study along with 5+ years of related civil construction experience on large projects, OR a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 9+ years of experience of related civil construction experience on large projects. The Project Engineer must also have a current and valid driver’s license.
