HGM Associates is seeking a Civil Engineer / Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing team in our Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska offices, supporting site development, utility, municipal, and general civil engineering projects.
New graduates and early-career engineers are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is designed for someone who has recently earned a civil engineering degree and is ready to build practical, real-world experience in a collaborative, flexible, and low-bureaucracy environment.
In this position, you will support civil engineering project teams under the guidance and review of experienced Professional Engineers. You will assist with design documents, engineering drawings, cost estimates, permitting materials, quality reviews, and construction-phase support while gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills grow.
Your work will support local communities through public infrastructure, neighborhoods, roads, utilities, and places people use every day.

- Support site evaluations and review project information, including topographical survey data and environmental considerations, to inform the design process
- Use AutoCAD, Micro Station, and other relevant design software to create detailed engineering drawings, plans, and schematics for civil projects under supervision
- Perform standard engineering computations and assist with project cost estimates, construction quantities, project planning, and scheduling
- Assist with preparation of plans, reports, permit materials, and design documentation with guidance and review from experienced engineers
- Support permitting and approval processes by helping ensure designs meet applicable local, state, and federal requirements
