The Portfolio Manager provides analytical and portfolio management support to the Bank's lending team. This position assists lenders with financial analysis, credit underwriting, loan monitoring, reporting, regulatory compliance, and collection activities. The Portfolio Manager may be delegated lending authority within Board-approved limits and is responsible for evaluating credit requests, approving loans within assigned authority levels, and exercising sound judgment in accordance with Bank policy and applicable regulations.
The Portfolio Manager works closely with lenders and management to support accurate credit analysis, timely reporting, adherence to Bank policies, and sound administration of commercial lending and depository relationships.
Responsible for originating, underwriting, approving (within delegated authority), and managing a range of consumer and small business loans including consumer real estate loans, lot loans, small business loans, and HELOCs, with an expected minimum loan portfolio of $750,000+ and minimum deposits of $500,000.
T his is an individual contributor position with no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential FunctionsThe following functions are essential to the position and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:
Assist lenders with the preparation of loan file comments and supporting credit documentation.
Monitor loan covenants, required financial statement reporting, collateral reporting, and other requirements established by Bank policy or loan documentation.
Analyze financial and credit information for prospective and existing customers, including credit history, repayment capacity, cash flow, leverage, liquidity, and overall creditworthiness.
Spread and analyze financial statements for existing and prospective customers.
Complete Lender portions of credit approval presentations and prepare written analyses of the loan request and borrower.
Assist with preparation for credit presentations to the appropriate approval authority, including approval matrices and credit committees.
Make recommendations regarding loan structure or presentation, as needed.
Exercise delegated lending authority to approve loans and credit relationships within established limits, applying independent judgment and sound credit principles in assessing risk, loan structure, collateral, and repayment capacity.
Recommend appropriate credit grades and risk ratings based on available financial information and the overall risk assessment.
Prepare and analyze periodic reports requested by Senior Management, Chief Credit Officer, or the Chief Banking Officer, including portfolio trends, loan policy exceptions, risk ratings, collateral codes, and other requested information.
Monitor loan repayment activity and take appropriate action to assist with the collection of past-due accounts, discussing concerns with the supervisor as needed.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable deposit and credit regulations and compliance requirements; communicate relevant information to local and Bank-wide teams and assist in ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Maintain a general understanding of the Bank’s products and services to identify customer needs and refer customers to the appropriate department or contact person.
Provide support and sales reporting for the Bank’s sales efforts, including promoting Bank products and services when opportunities arise.
Apply credit underwriting, financial analysis, loan structuring, and communication skills when supporting the administration of lending products and the negotiation of financial terms.
